Christian Formation for Children

Christian education for all ages is a vital part of the life of the church. We who believe that Jesus Christ was born, lived, died, and was resurrected for our salvation, need to study and to reflect on what our beliefs mean and how we are to live in response to such and outpouring of love and grace. To that end Trinity offers several options for both adults and children to draw closer to God.

Sunday Morning
Christian Education begins on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM. Our children begin with stories told in the Beulah Land or Godly Play format. During this time the children wonder about how God acts in the lives of the people of the Bible and in their own lives. The stories always begin with the hands and heart of God as our message is one of God with us in all that we do and of our call to live as God's children in the world. The order of Church School is reflective of the order of the Holy Eucharist. We hear God's word, we offer songs of praise, we pray together, share a meal, and are sent into the world to live out the Gospel we are taught. The children join the adults in worship at the Peace.

Youth Group
Once each month the children gather in Houghton Hall for worship, crafts, and sharing a meal with the rector. This is a time of learning and growth. Parents are encouraged to come and to participate in these fun-filled afternoons.

At Trinity children are welcomed and encouraged to remain in church as they and their parents feel appropriate. Children are welcome to receive Communion as soon as they are able to do so safely. Blessings will be offered for small children or those whose parents prefer for them to wait until parents and child feel that they are ready. At Trinity we teach about the mystery of the Eucharist throughout the church year and occasionally offer special programs for young children to learn to share in that celebration. More information is available at the rear of the church.
Sometimes children find it hard to sit still or to use hushed voices for long periods of time. At Trinity we try to make this time as nurturing for your child as possible. You are welcome to retire to the rocking chair with your child if that is helpful and comfortable for you. There is a changing table and supplies in the restroom area across from the sanctuary.

Quiet toys are always welcome.

The chapel offers a place for worship and prayer even when "Tommy Toddler" seems bent on disrupting your peace! Sound is provided in the chapel if you need to leave church with your child By spending time in church your toddler will become accustomed to the sights and sounds and will want to come back with you when he is a teenager!

Church School at Trinity does not meet during the summer months. Children are invited to join us in the sanctuary for the 10 AM service.
