A Hundred Years On

We have an image of Trinity Episcopal Church - when was it produced?

The evidence

1. The church has been raised, with steps to the front door. This happened in 1930s
2. there are stately elms in the yard. These died in the 1950s

Conclusion

The answer is around 1950.

Worth Noting

Things to notice about the church and land:

• he exterior walls are stucco, from bottom to top.
• The steeple has been truncated
• A fence surrounds the property, with numerous pickets.
• the trees.
• There is a wing, with separate door, on the left.

Question: In the three exterior images, the ridge of the church seems to correspond to different levels on the steeple. Did this really change, or did the engravers take liberties?

This appeared as the cover for a report prepared in 1988; it reflects the favored remembrance of the church, rather than the reality of the day.
