Altar Guild, Annual Report for year 2004

Altar Guild 2004

Sincere thanks to Candace Picanso for her many years of dedication to the Altar Work and as a Laundry Person and to Shirley Walker for her many, many years of Altar Work. Thank you ladies.

It is unfortunate with the loss of these two dependables we are now down to four members, one who has asked for three months time out for personal reasons. There has been a notice in the Sunday bulletin for weeks asking, or shall I say begging, for volunteers. Not one person has approached me though I think over the years most everyone has been asked to help. There are no meetings which has worked as a plus in the past. Time wise is about 1_ hours per week and the more people we have the less time you are scheduled. Have you ever given any thought as to why the silver chalice is not tarnished? And how the chalice appears on the altar with the right colors of the seasons and holy days? How do the purificators look so nice and where does the homemade bread come ×from the first Sunday of the month? Think about this and see if you cannot spare some time every few months.

A thank you to Jeanne MacDonald for the bread and for taking two months of washing and ironing our linens. In this group we also have Betty Malbon, Sally Bragdon, Jan High, Maureen Eckel and we could use one more due to CandyÕs retirement. The good news with the washing and ironing is that with all the new materials it is so much easier than it had been in the past! Thank you to all of you.

What would we do without the dedication of Janice High, Betty Malbon Maureen Eckel, and myself, the remaining four members. Most importantly what would I do without them. Although I am always willing, I am not always able. So, the point is we are in need of one more washer and ironer plus at least three more Altar Workers. Think of what God does in your life and give him one and a half hours every few months as a ÒThank YouÓ.

Respectfully submitted,
Betty Walker
